It was eerie, indeed, to read these words, then see a Tvo-ed sequence of Obama's many protestations of unconditional commitment to Israel (at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Haj-CJOERTs )
...at Christmas time, with the issue of the president's birth credentials having been raised by Hawaii's governor elect, reported in the NYTimes, repeated by Chris Matthews on MSNBC. All on or around 12.21. Eeriness of feeling turned into crawling skin and tingling up and down the spine when these glossed over with PLEZ use of "WE".

They suceeded, militarily, but "the union" left an unclaimed debt for having violated the social contract.

led to the Vietnam war, on two main levels: geo-political -- J.F. Kennedy's violation of the social contract made in Houston to the Southern Baptists not to allow his Catholicism to affect U.S. foreign policy. Violation of the unspoken social contract between generational fathers and sons not to wage war for political reasons.

-election of a grade B movie star, Ronald Reagan violated the unspoken social contract of entertainers not to huck political audience. It was because he did this, knowing how to badger Jimmy "There he goes again" Carter, to reinstate existential identity with Agent Orange Father patriotism.


VIOLATION OF THE SOCIAL CONTRACT

- is implicit in repeal of DADT and "same-sex marriage", the two major fronts mounted by the homosexual community, and supporters. Hailed by followers of the Lame Ducks as a fine, bipartisan success, it is actually the coup de-grace of Vietnam War Father's grandkids. Who wouldn't.

Argument

The very meme "Don't Ask Don't Tell" is a 'smart' token of childhood secret-keeping. Raised to the level of military policy, it defines a way to keep conflict deriving from the oedipal stage of psychic development from arising in the traditionally male gender occupation of fighting in defense of the country. It is during this period that gender awareness first occurs and the choice of object-cathexis is fixed, largely by relations toward parents, Freud found.

It cannot be said that animosity of those whose path of love follows that of the parental union producing them, against the path that leads from same-gender object cathexis is 'irrational', 'bigoted', or even wrong, than standing up for one's native soil. The attempt to label it such, crowned by cynical use of pop-Freudian label 'homophobic', is a REVERSAL of instinctive male animus, motivated by ego-defense of the conscious position of undifferentiated male anima (relation to the mother). (The groin-kick to police in a NYC 'gay bar' was animus of the anima.)

Finally, regarding same-sex marriage: This was stated by V.P. Joe Biden to be 'inevitable' after passing DADT repeal. The same notion of "equal rights" evoked to argue for open military service is used to argue for recognizing homosexual marriage. ...

Except here the train of arguments comes 'round full circle, to negate itself.

Marriage is not just a word to be defined and applied according to popular demand. As a word, It refers to a social institution elaborated by rituals, many of them dating from time immemorial, specifically invoking holiness in commemoration of fecundity. For it has always (except perhaps for obscure and undocumented practices) applied to a union of opposites from which something new, an 'offspring', emeged. It's opposite, a union of "sames", can only produce more of the same. Therefore the conjunction of "same" and "opposite" sex, or gender, under "marriage", conjoins union based on the principle of fecundity with union not based on the principle of fecundity, but upon the pleasurable experience of its natural antecedent. This marriage of "same-sex" to the institution of marriage thus does two things: 1. conradicts the principle married sex is based on; 2. blocks higher completion of sexual desire through The Other. The circle through: 'military service' - 'equal rights' - 'same-sex marriage' thus leads to its own reversal. It can be sustained only AT THAT PLACE where the reptile's head is actually devouring its tail. The uroborus is fine as a symbol of totality; but as a symbol of anything less, the X point will be where it must disappear into. It is very dangerous to take reality exclusively as seen from the side of the unconscious.
