08 . 12 .10 SYNCHRONS to SYNCHRONICITY

-Pondering on the separate Synchrons below, each one a Totality completing in itself, to discern The Synchronicity = > unity of the whole in the wholes

(Mysterium Conjunctionis p. 464 'The characteristic feature of all these phenomena (telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition)...is meaningful coincidence...This principle suggests that there is an inter-connection or unity of causally unrelated events, and thus postulates a unitary aspect of being which can vry well be described as the unus mundus. Everything that happens happens in the same "one world" and is a part of it. For this reason events must possess an a priori aspect of unity, though this is difficult to establish by the statistical method."

Comment: The a priori unity of experience, to which Jung alludes, corresponds to, and derives from, Kant's arguments in the Transcendental Aesthetic that space and time are conditions, not content, of the qualitative phenomenal flow. The higher-level unity in this unity of the phenomenal given, rendering perceptual knowledge possible, is called by him "the transcendental unity of apperception', illustrated by universal Analogies of experience: substance, cause, connectedness ("all substances, in so far as they can be perceived in space, are in thoroughgoing reciprocity"). The condition of this unity of concepts applicable to all objects of possible perception is in the mind, apriori; brought to experience, not derived from it.

At this point, Jung's psychology, supplemented by a single further plausible assumption, transitions to metaphysics. The assumption is the anatomical function for synthesis of higher order predicates.

Such a "6th sense", if such were spoken of (Jung doesn't; G. does), would apply further concepts of unity to the totality of objects in both space AND time.

Pondering the Synchronicity in the Synchrons seeks thislevel of synthesis. Each synchron has a referential, or causal unity; but each also has a symbolic aspect, typically exemplified by the tokens of signs used as text. Distinguishing and associating these symbolic aspects by 'active imagination' supplies material for a Transcendental Unity of Consciousness in thought.

It is to this fund of material that unconscious fantasies from the fetal and Oedipal stages of psychosemiotic development synthetically apply. Actively pondering the list of 08.12 synchrons brings to consciousness the unity The Unconscious perceives through it.
