THE TWONESS OF YOU
-Mercurius duplex (homo ousia - identity of essence/material substance; different attributes (water, metal) <= alchemy:depth psychology => content 'projected' onto the metal by 'how it makes us feel' <= secret marriage of opposites hidden in nature's womb, extracted by The Art. Mysterium Conjunctionis IV Rex and Regina (Carl Jung's last major work)
VENUS: 1. Chaste bride of the King in purple cloak
2. Noble whore.
"The whore (meretrix) is a well-known figure in alachemy. She characterizes the arcane substance in its initial "chaotic," maternal state (<= fetal origns). The "Introitus apertus" says that the chaos is like a motherof the metals. It is also called "our Luna" before the royal diadem is extracted from the "menstrum of our whore,"...The Tractatus aureus de lapide" says of the arcane substance: That noble whore Venus is clothed and nveloped in abounding colour. This colour "has a reddish appearance." The nobility of this Venus derives from the fact that she is alsi the queen, the "chaste bride" of the king. ..."That precious substance is the Venus of the ancients, the hermaphrodite, who has two sexes. Maier writes: "In our chemistry therre is Venus and Cupid. For psyche is the female, Cupid the male, who is held to be the dragon." The :opeus ad rubeum" (reddening) takes place in the second house of Venus (Libra). ...In Flamel the lapis is born of the conjunction of "Venus pugnax" and Mercurius --evidently a reference to the quarrelling that precedes their union (cf. the fighting lions). ... In general,. Venus appears as the feminine aspect of the king, or as we should say, his anima. Thus Valentinus says of Adam and Venus in the bath:
So saith the Wise Man: Nought they be
Except the Double Mercurie!
