Psychic Casimir effect: toward a theory

The physical Casimir effect

Two metal plates suspended facing each other in a vacuum will tend to move together as if attracted by a subtle immaterial force. This has been explained as due to differential ratios of ultra-fine cosmic wave-particles between and surrounding the facing surfaces; then, generalized to free energy pervading the universe, and credited to Tesla who imagined future machines running off it.

This may be happening, but advent of the Moses iPad invites application of the principle to psychic process, not just by functional but material identity. Freud’s “Note Upon the “Mystic Writing-Pad” (1925) relates how the child’s toy, with top sheet stenciled over colored hard-gel surface printing it by contact, erased by lifting up the sheet to ready for new impressions, is functionally identical with memory of one present perceptual content erased to make way for another. “An unlimited receptive capacity,” indulged as the tendency to dwell overlong on pleasing content, “and a retention of permanent traces”, compared to retention by the hard-gel under-surface of the inscribed content after lifting the sheet,
….”seem to be mutually exclusive properties in the apparatus which we use as substitutes for our memory: either the receptive surface must be renewed or the note must be destroyed.” Unless there are two kinds of memory process, I take him to be arguing, one that retains an enduring momentary impression, and one that lets it go to make way for others, the kind of mental-behavioral adaptation to the enviornment required to complete the totality at hand will not exist. The two memory processes correlate with Freud’s two unconscious systems, “Prc” and “Unc” (for ‘preconscious’ and ‘unconscious’, 1900), which in turn corresponded to Jung’s Personal and Collective Unconscious. In current neuro-psychology these two levels of category of unconscious content would be those accessible to hippocampal and amygdalan memory, respectively.

An argument (Freud’s), an independent empirical confirmation (Jung), anatomical sites: this is strong ground for taking such a two-stratum “writing pad” model as objective fact about how human experience is wired.

How far can such “models” be generalized?

This is an epistemic question which new-age users of models as explanations of things are not prepared to take, metaphysically, I think. For, this model, reflecting content down through levels from Cs.=>Pcs.=>Ucs, situating Cs. firsrt as (perception  TABLET) (i.e., a person staring at the MAGIC WRITING PAD surface: all images double-(double-(double-)) ,,,layered ...this, itself, should be sufficient to bring about a Psychic Casimir Effect in the population. It generalizes through itself (form of virality). The narrower the fantasy content more deeply interchanged, the more insistently delegate-positions of consciousness, reflecting deep historical content, will be cathected. All old historical conflicts will be resurrected.

Two facing metal plates of a certain description, suspended in a vacuum, will create a field of energy that draws them together with a force of infinitesimal, but non-negligible, magnitude. This is called “The Casimir effect”, and explained as due to differential of quantum infinities pressing outside vrs infinities resisting between the plates.

If the facing metal plates are replaced by a human face staring an iPad, and the quantum zero point of free energy internalized to the human head brain, then the “Obama narrative vacuum” text, read on millions of Avatar loving screens, will match ‘on the token side’ his diminishing vivacity. Apart from the flux of variable feeling, these will be drawn together by quantum inside-outside pressure whatever the variable feelings about things, and become settled psychic fact. David Hume’s “gentle force of association” between ‘ideas’ (sense qualities), through which he explained impulse to believe in universal causation as an example of itself, is brought to mind as a phenomenal counterpart. Freud’s method of free association to dream content in reclining, ‘vacuumed out’ state also corresponds.

This will be a region, then, in which there will be great mixing and matching of split text-token sign-uses, in competition for a narrative that completes the totality according to variable desires. The problem that arises, unique to human understanding, I hold, comes from The Blockers: agencies working to prevent tokens from properly matching texts to square situational reality. There are forces of infinitesimal, but non-negligible magnitude blocking (S/S*)^ (text square with its token), substituting ~S in the token place => (~S/S*)^ (text with reversed token used to square a situation: “It is what it is” (when showing what it isn’t).

(note: presumptuous and irritating, spelling out the forms of discourse involved in explaining the Psychic Casimir* effect is necessary, in order to generalize over entirely separate regions of discourse: by metaphysical use of the metaphor ‘plates’, and ‘quantum fields’.) “Block The Blockers” is the soul war cry of genii energy strategists.
